Our mission at Adventure Society is two-fold:

1) To provide access to an active, healthy, and social lifestyle with the goal of maintaining a balanced life of the highest quality. We feel that having a well-balanced life is important and sometimes hard to achieve when living in the city. For this reason, we offer busy urbanites opportunities to escape the city and rejuvenate in the outdoors year-round!

2) To educate people about the environment and how to incorporate sustainable living practices into our daily lives. We are committed to promoting a lifestyle that is socially and environmentally responsible in order to minimize our impact on the planet and we are committed to working with companies who share these values. Quality Standards:

We have extremely high standards for the companies we work with. We require all companies to have the proper licensing, certifications, insurance, and a significant amount of experience in their field. Before we work with a new company, guiding service, restaurant, farm, etc. we research their background and then we visit the location to participate in the activities, check out the equipment, taste the food, meet the staff, and so on to make sure they are up to par with our quality of standards. We only work with companies that share similar values, safety standards, and high quality services.

Leave No Trace & Environmental Practices:

There is only one Mother Earth and we believe in preserving her beauty for future generations to enjoy. The basic Leave No Trace principle is simple: Take nothing but a picture, leave nothing but a footprint. Adventure Society uses this basic philosophy and takes it a step further. We utilize environmentally sound practices and decrease CO2 emissions by traveling together in 1-2 vehicles ranging from 15-passenger vans to 33-passenger mini buses, instead of allowing people to drive separately. We also offer a host of low footprint and human/animal/environment powered activities like hiking, biking, horseback riding, sailing, hang gliding, kayaking, surfing, ice/rock climbing, etc. When possible, we pair our trips up with visits to local, organic farms or farmers' markets so you can bring home locally-grown fresh produce, meats, and dairy products!

About the Company:

Adventure Society was founded as the first company of its kind in Manhattan. In line with the original vision, every year A.S. strives to improve up on the quality of its trips and is always in search of fun new activities to add to the activity calendar. The key to Adventure Society's success over the years is that we offer a diverse range of activities that cater to all ability levels. Currently, we run over 67 different activities and offer 150+ trips a year, more than any other company within 5+ hours of the city. On top of our trips, we host interactive cocktail parties, private members-only dinners, cooking classes, yoga classes, and a host of other city based activities. Another aspect that has driven our success is that we are not a singles organization, we are open to everyone. So someone who is married or dating and has a significant other who doesn't what to come with them on a trip, feels just as comfortable as someone who is single. This doesn't mean that we haven't had people meet on a trip or at a cocktail party and later on get married, as we've had quite a few Adventure Society marriages! This not our focus however, which creates a different type of environment on our trips, as we are a friendly group of people who are out to have a good time.

To maintain quality and a personalized feel during trips and activities, we put together smaller more intimate groups of 15 to 30 people, where you are able to socialize and walk away knowing the people you met. Our trips and activities are not cliquish and people traveling solo find it easy to make friends and feel quite comfortable. This is the environment we strive to create during all of our activities and we have been extremely successful over the years in achieving this goal.

A few years ago, we created the membership as a reward for people who sign up for our activities on a regular basis. The membership is for those who are interested in being more involved with A.S. as a way to enhance their lifestyle.
