*EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT AVAILABLE UNTIL FEBRUARY 13TH!*
Join us for the ultimate thrill... jumping out of an airplane at over 2.5 miles above the earth's surface! Enjoy the scenery of the Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and possibly the NJ Shore skylines covered with a beautiful blanket of snow while you ascend in the airplane. Then, as you glide back down under your canopy, you'll have plenty of time to take in the sights of the area from a different point of view. This skydiving trip is being held at a different location this year in order to offer you the highest tandem skydive in the area! We will be going to the largest location in the area where they have performed more than 1/4 of a million tandem skydives, so you will definitely be in good hands! You will be safely strapped to your tandem instructor who will give you instructions along the way and will land you comfortably on the ground. During your tandem skydive your instructor's vast skydiving experience will ensure you get the most out of your skydiving adventure!
When you first arrive, you'll watch a short video which will educate you about the type of skydive you are about to make. This is followed by a 20 to 30 minute training session that will get you familiar with tandem skydiving procedures. Afterwards, you and your experienced Tandem Master (aka instructor) will gear up in a parachute system specially designed for two people.
Then you will board the aircraft for your ascent into the sky! After receiving your final safety checks, you and your instructor will exit the aircraft and then experience approximately 60 seconds of freefall before you and your instructor deploy a parachute specially designed for two people. After enjoying the beauty, serenity, and thrill of the view under a parachute, you will then work with your instructor to fly the parachute back for a landing right in front of the observation area at the airport.
If time permits, on the way back to the city we will stop by a local winery for an optional wine tasting paired with a variety of cheese and crackers! If time doesn't permit to stop by the winery, the cheeses will be served at the skydiving observation deck while you watch others land!
This is a truly unique experience and a must for all adrenaline junkies!!!
*Note: You must be at least 18 years old and weigh less than 250 pounds to jump!
CAPTURE YOUR JUMP ON VIDEO TO CHERISH FOR MANY YEARS TO COME!
We highly recommend getting at least the DVD as you only make your first jump once! This way you can share the moment with your friends and family or watch it when you’re having a bad day! Have your jump recorded by one of their expert videographers and choose from a DVD, Photos or both. Your DVD will be professionally edited and set to music onsite and you will be able to take it with you at the end of the day. Their staff of videographers takes personal pride in editing your jump. Accordingly, they give every jump the attention it deserves. If you purchase your DVD or Photos in advance you will receive a discount. See pricing below.
DVD or PHOTOS - $110 Each + tax // Both - $130 + tax
A professional videographer/cameraman will be joining you and your jumpmaster on your skydive to capture your freefall! The video includes interviews with you as you prepare to board the plane, shots of your ascent to altitude, climbing out of the aircraft, freefall, parachute opening, landing, and your reaction upon reaching the ground safely.
During freefall, the cameraman will be flying just a few feet from your face with a video and still camera mounted to his helmet. The entire video is edited by their professional staff and set to music. You will then receive your DVD/Photos at the end of your trip.
SAFETY
The skydiving location we've chosen is a United States Parachute Association (U.S.P.A.) Group Member Parachute Center. This means that only properly rated instructors, approved methods of training, and modern docile square parachutes will be used. Skydiving is inherently a dangerous activity. There is inherent danger in scuba diving, skiing and driving as well. Given the unknown variables of man, nature and machine there is no way to make these activities completely safe. However, with care it is possible to participate in these activities with reduced risk.
CYPRES EQUIPPED
Each of their student and tandem systems also contains a very modern computerized device which is designed to automatically activate the backup parachute at a predetermined altitude in the event that the skydiver is unable to.
Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:
What If I Wear Contacts or Glasses?
They have goggles that will fit over your glasses.
Will I Get Sick?
If you don't suffer from motion sickness normally, it is unlikely that skydiving will make you nauseous. Be sure to be well rested and eat a healthy breakfast. You'll be much more likely to get sick if your stomach is empty.
What If Your Parachute Doesn't Open?
Clearly, this is the most Frequently-Asked-Question posed by all prospective jumpers. By law (FAA regulations), all intentional parachute jumps must be made with a single harness, dual parachute system with both a main canopy *AND* a reserve canopy. In other words, you have a second (or spare) canopy in case the first one fails to open properly. However, it must be noted that the technology utilized in today's sport parachuting equipment is light years ahead of the old military surplus gear used in the '60s and '70s. The canopies are DRASTICALLY different from the classic G.I. Joe round parachutes. The materials are stronger, lighter and last longer. The packing procedures are simpler. The deployment sequence is much more refined, etc. The reserve canopies are even more carefully designed and packed. The reserve parachute must be inspected and repacked every 120 days by an FAA rated parachute Rigger - even if it has not been used during that time. The student's main canopy is always packed either by a rigger or under a rigger's direct supervision by experienced packers. There are also additional safety features employed to ensure canopy deployment such as Automatic Activation Devices (AAD) and Reserve Static Lines (RSL) which add still more layers of safety.
How Fast Do You Fall?
When you leave the aircraft, you are moving horizontally at the same speed as the aircraft, typically 90-110MPH. During the first 10 seconds, a skydiver accelerates up to about 115-130MPH straight down. (A tandem pair uses a drogue chute to keep them from falling much faster than this). It is possible to change your body position to vary your rate of fall. In a standard face-to-earth position, you can change your fall rate up or down a few (10-20) miles per hour. However, by diving or "standing up" in freefall, any experienced skydiver can learn to reach speeds of over 160-180MPH. Speeds of over 200MPH require significant practice to achieve. The record freefall speed, done without any special equipment, is 321MPH. Obviously, it is desirable to slow back down to 110MPH before parachute opening. Once under parachute, decent rates of 1000ft./min. are typical. A lighter student with a bigger canopy may come down much more slowly, and, obviously, a heavier person may have a somewhat faster decent. Experienced jumper's canopies descend (in normal glide) at up to 1500ft./min. During radical turns, the decent rate can go well over 2000ft./min.
How Hard Is The Landing?
The canopies used today bear little resemblance to the classic round canopies of years gone by. Today, nearly all jumpers and jump schools use "square" canopies for parachuting. These canopies are actually rectangular in shape, and when open, act like an airplane wing (or an airfoil). They are more like gliders than umbrellas. The aerodynamics of the square canopy provide it with exceptional maneuverability, allowing the jumpers to land almost anywhere they wish. This wing shape also provides tippy-toe soft landings for even the novice jumper. The days of landing like a sack of flour are history. Most students land standing up on their first jump.
Should I Tip My Instructor?
Tipping is not expected, but is always greatly appreciated. If you feel your instructor or pilot has done an especially good job, let them know about it. Everyone at the skydiving location works hard to help make your jumps safe and enjoyable.
