*EARLY REGISTRATION DISCOUNT AVAILABLE UNTIL FEBRUARY 14TH!*
Enjoy the unique winter sport of dog sledding! Imagine gliding along a winding trail through pine forests heavy with snow; winter's blanket silencing all except for the frosted breathing of the dogs and the mushers sharp commands hanging in the chilled air as they yell "gee" or "haw" telling the dogs to turn right or left. You will be more than impressed by these extraordinary four-legged athletes whose passion is to run! If you’ve ever read "The Call of the Wild", "White Fang", or watched the Iditarod Sled Dog Race you will truly appreciate this unique experience.
The day will start with an education on how to harness the dogs, how to hook them up to the sleds, how to “line them out”, hold them back, and how to get the teams to work together. You will then have a chance to ask questions about the dogs, the history of dog sledding, and about the sport. You will have the rare opportunity to work with a variety of dogs including: Inuit Sled Dogs (the oldest breed), Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, and Alaskan Huskies, each of which has unique characteristics and personality. The dog sled ride will be run on a trail that winds up a series of hills covered with thick trees. You will then loop back down the hills on top of a frozen river. During the steepest points you will get out and run alongside the dog sled team, in traditional dog sledding fashion, which both helps get the dogs up the hill and will help keep you warm and your adrenaline pumping!
Then we'll head to lunch at a local pub/micro brew with a cozy old stone fireplace where you can participate in an optional beer tasting! The brewery and pub is nestled at the foot of the mountains in a beautiful scenic valley in a meticulously restored 200-year-old barn. Their award winning brewer and outstanding culinary team have developed a wide variety of unique beers and culinary creations to appeal to the diverse tastes of the most discerning beer drinkers. Like the 200-year-old barn that houses their restaurant, each beer is a unique blend of art, science and devoted labor....and a testament to craftsmanship ensuring that this will be one of your best beer tasting experiences!
After the tasting you’ll dine in the pub where you can choose from their extensive menu including: Seafood Dishes, Burgers, Ribs, Chicken, Mexican Dishes, Salads, Soups, Sandwiches and other vegetarian dishes. If you don’t drink beer they also have a full bar and wonderful winter drinks like hot chocolate and hot apple cider!
