Tandem Hang-Gliding Trip

If the election results have you thinking about taking a flying leap, consider attaching yourself to a huge glider (and strapping yourself to someone who actually knows what they're doing). The Adventure Society provides transportation from midtown, but the trip is limited to 14, so sign up right quick.

Fall ATV Trip

Got a hankering to rev up the engine, fly over huge mounds of dirt and throw caution (and common sense) to the wind? Join Adventure Society for an afternoon of track or off-road racing (driver's license not required). There's also a hike of the Delaware Water Gap involved, but we figure you're in it for the horsepower. Transportation is provided from midtown, but you should bring some cash for tips and snacks

Fall Foliage Bike Ride

What could be better than fall foliage and bike riding in the Hudson Valley? How about apple and pumpkin picking? After a moderately paced three-hour ride, you'll pick fruit and take in the beautiful scenery. Transportation from midtown is provided; lunch and gratuity are not.

"Club Proves Traveling Just Outside Manhattan Can Be An Adventure"

If the most adventurous thing you do in the city is squeeze through the subway doors before they close, then you might just want to join the club.

Getting some quality time away from the city does not require a schlep to the airport or even renting a car. The Adventure Society is a travel club masterminded by Alaskan native Serena Walker, who realized she did not have to give up all the outdoor activities she loved once she became a city slicker.

Serena stops short of calling it a singles club, because there's an even mix of couples and groups of friends, but there have been some love connections, especially when people were not looking. Serena arranges year- round getaways, attracting mostly 30 somethings to a range of experiences within a few of hours of Manhattan and beyond.

Emphasizing the social aspect, groups are kept on the small side and transportation is usually provided. Many of the activities are seasonal; combining the sport with a special interest for instance, autumn brings pumpkin and apple picking excursions.

Looking for something more daring? There are also plenty of activities to get your adrenalin pumping.

The Adventure Society is a membership club, but you do not have to join to go on the trips. Member benefits include discounts on trips and activities and free monthly cocktail parties. It's $99 for a six month membership. The trips themselves are extra. Daytrips range from $65 - $300. [CLICK FOR ONLINE VIDEO]

Half-Day Horseback and Wine Tasting Adventure

Head to a 2,400-acre wildlife preserve for an afternoon of riding, divided by skill level. Afterwards, you can kick back, sample varietals at a local vineyard and tend to your achin’ patootie. Ticket price includes transportation, but not lunch and tips.

Kayaking and Wine Tasting

The Adventure Society brings you to the Delaware Water Gap for a three-hour kayak excursion, followed by a visit to a local vineyard. At least we think so; if they decide to reverse the order, things could get a little hairy. (Ditto if they tried them concurrently.) Ticket price includes transportation, kayak and life jacket, but not lunch and tips.

White-Water Tubing

You know what? We’re sick of listing white-water rafting trips in this space. But white-water tubing, now that’s a party! Join the Adventure Society up in the Catskills for some totally tubular action. Okay, that was awful.

Learn to Hang Glide

Since ancient times, man has sought to slip the surly bonds of Earth and soar. Fortunately, the Adventure Society is offering a way to do it that doesn’t involve gluing a pair of flimsy wings to your back. This all-levels boot camp includes training on the ground and tips on glider assembly, but lunch—if you can keep it down-—is up to you.

WHITEWATER RAFTING

It's a dam release weekend, which means bigger waves, deeper waters and softer rocks (just kidding on the last one). Join 29 new friends for an aquatic escape as the Adventure Society takes a ride down the Lehigh River. Ticket price includes transportation from midtown, rafts, guides and equipment, but not meals.

Remember, all work and no play does not a social diva make! Just think of the stories you’ll have to tell back at the cocktail lounge.

Some featured events: Enjoy a cocktail party on a private yacht in July where you’ll meet and mingle with other outdoor adventurers while watching the sun set over Manhattan. Register for a full moon rafting trip in August and cozy up to a bonfire for a little après party. Or attend Adventure Society’s monthly cocktail party on a rooftop overlooking Manhattan where you can socialize with 200+ avid adventurers. Just don’t wait too long to sign up as most of the activities only have room for 14-30 people and you don’t want another diva to get your spot.
